I was thinking why I didn't get completely entralled by James' rendition of Macbeth and I think I found the answer. The narration between scenes kept pulling me out of the play like commercials on TV. So while I found certain scenes powerful, I wasn't wowed by the overall play because I kept getting pulled in and out and in and out. I think that's a reason why I will always watch my Buffy dvds rather than repeats on TV. I'm able to enjoy the story as a whole without being pulled out by the commercials. Does anyone else have a similar reaction or do I have a short attention span? hmmm...too bad if the narration was indeed the reason. I really liked the concept of it.
