So last weekend [profile] ghostgirl13 and myself volunteered for Creation's Fangoria here in Los Angeles. It was a fun exhausting weekend. Not as exhausting as Grand Slam, but then we weren't trying to enjoy the con on top of volunteering. It was a neat weekend since I am a classic horror fan. I don't like the new stuff since it tends to be nothing but blood, guts and porn and the whole scary story aspect of horror has all but disappeared.

Saturday we were both assigned to the vendor's room. Which was neat and bad on my wallet. At fangoria most of the stars sign at booths in the vendor's room, kind of like comic con but definitely not as big. So it was fun walking around all day and seeing the actors. At one point I watched Brian O'Halloran's table while he was at a panel for his latest film Brutal Massacre. It's being advertised as the Spinal Tap of Horror. Could be funny. He kept thanking me over and over for watching his table. Which was funny since he was doing me the favor by letting me sit down for an hour and a half.

Sunday we were in the auditorium. Which was more interesting because we had something to listen too while walking around. I got to be the feeder to Joe Dante the director of Gremlins and many other films. He was a nice guy. I had to be the bad person and tell people it was only one item he was signing, but noticed that people went over my head and had him sign more than one. He honestly was glad to do it, so I figured I would say the official word of one and let him do whatever he wanted as long as he signed for everyone in line. I like feeding for the talent. It's fun to see the people interacting with someone they are a fan of.
Some of the panels were very interesting. Others had me going, people actually like watching this stuff. Ray Wise did a panel and he was awesome. He says he wants to do a definitive Dracula that is true to the book. It would be awesome to finally have a film that is faithful to the book. Coppola came close but blew it by adding blatant porn elements to appeal to the young boy market. Damn you Coppola you almost had it right. Anyways, Ray Wise is cool. The Night of the Living Dead panel was awesome. Looking forward to seeing them again in New Jersey. And Moonlight fans are kind of scary.
Overall a fun weekend working with cool people. I'm seriously tempted to maybe volunteer for Las Vegas, but don't know if I could do so yet. And after seeing people dressed up during the weekend, I kind of want to let my inner goth vamp out for Fangoria New Jersey. We'll see if I can afford to purchase some clothing before then.
